About this role:

Masa’s PT Bookkeeper works closely with the Executive Director, Accounting Consultant, and Finance Associate to ensure Masa’s finances are accurate, organized, and up-to-date.  They perform the day-to-day bookkeeping, receipt management, and fiscal reporting as required.  This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented person with prior bookkeeping experience who is interested in collaborating with a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting immigrant youth and families.   The ideal schedule is 20-24 hours/week.   

Job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for timely entry of all data into the QuickBooks Online accounting system, including vendor bills, deposits, debit card charges, and payroll journal entries
  • Process check requests on a weekly basis
  • Record donor pledges and receipt of payments in QuickBooks
  • Track spending for reimbursement-based contracts and prepare reports regularly; track spending for program budgets and by funder on a monthly basis; prepare monthly financial statements
  • Ensure that all back-up materials for financial transactions are collected and stored in the Masa’s filing system, including invoices, receipts for debit card transactions and back-up for in-kind donations
  • Assist in preparation for annual audit
  • Supporting Executive Director to address finance-related inefficiencies affecting staff and streamline processes such as placing materials orders and reconciling related records
  • Providing direct support to Masa staff with requests for purchasing, vendor payments, etc. and addressing time-sensitive asks as they arise 

 

Qualifications:

·       2+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a non-profit organization

·       At least one year of experience working with Quickbooks

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting, marketing, communications or related field highly preferred

·       Understanding of the use of General Ledger accounts is required.

·       Excellent computer skills: professional experience with MS Word and Excel are required.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·    Highly detail-oriented, organized and self-managing; able to work independently and to prioritize, manage and complete multiple tasks

·       Driven and flexible – willing to jump in and help out whenever and wherever needed

·       Bilingual in Spanish a plus, but not required


Compensation:

$30-35/hr
