About the Marketing and Communications Associate

Masa is hiring a PT Marketing and Communications Associate who will work closely with Masa’s Executive Director and the Institutional Giving Manager to support various aspects of the organization’s communications and marketing strategy, including drafting monthly newsletters, creating end-of-year giving appeals, managing Masa’s social media accounts, carrying out updates and ongoing maintenance of Masa’s website, and supporting rebranding strategy. This person will also edit one-pagers, infographics, and additional content to share the story of Masa’s impact. 

This is an ideal position for a self-driven person with strong writing, graphic design, and storytelling skills, and experience in marketing and communications. This is a part-time role of approximately 16–24 hours per week. This role operates on a three day schedule with preferred in-office days on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There may be occasional exceptions requiring availability on other weekdays or weekends, which will be communicated in advance. 

Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Execution

  • Draft, schedule, and publish posts highlighting events, programming, advocacy efforts, and community updates across Masa’s social media platforms
  • Track engagement and performance to guide content adjustments and deepen reach

Email Communications

  • Write and edit newsletters, program announcements, and timely alerts for Masa’s mailing lists and campaigns, ensuring messages reflect the voice of our multilingual communities.

Brand & Messaging Alignment

  • Support the development of branded toolkits, templates, and campaign materials
  • Ensure all public-facing communications are consistent with Masa’s mission, tone, and visual identity

Website Updates & Maintenance

  • Support the updating of Masa's website, eventually owning the maintenance of the website with up-to-date information, adding new program descriptions, updating event listings, and uploading resources as needed to keep our digital presence fresh and accessible

Digital & Print Content Production

  • Help create and curate multimedia content including graphics, flyers, brochures, short videos, and written pieces that uplift community stories, promote initiatives, and support outreach goals
  • Attend Masa events to capture photos, videos, and quotes for social media and web content
  • Contribute to real-time and follow-up storytelling that reflects the energy and impact of our work

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a communications or marketing role, ideally in the non-profit sector
  • Writing and graphic design skills (Canva)
  • Bilingual (fluency in English and Spanish)
  • Share Masa’s commitment to advancing social and racial justice through a community-led model and are comfortable discussing race, class, gender, power, and privilege
  • Passionate about drawing on families’ strengths and traditions to build strong partnerships within Latin American immigrant and indigenous communities
  • Prior experience working with immigrant and indigenous communities (preferred)

Physical Demands

  • This position is in-person at Masa’s office and may require local travel to other settings (e.g., schools, Masa community events, etc.)
  • Occasional weekend days may be requested to attend special events
  • Light to moderate carrying of program materials is required

Compensation

The pay range for this role is between $22 - $26 per hour depending on experience
