About the Family Support Coordinator

The Family Support Coordinator reports to the Programs Manager and provides case management services through in-person, one-on-one support and referrals to Masa community members.  This role also provides oversight and guidance to 2 PT Program Associates, and coordinates Masa’s rapid response services, including a food pantry, emergency cash assistance, distribution of school and hygiene supplies, and others.

A key component of the job will be to maintain and develop partnerships with social service and other resource organizations, ensuring a high-quality and active referral list, conduct community outreach, and keep accurate case management notes and other records.  The Family Support Coordinator may also lead workshops and information sessions with groups either in-person or in a virtual setting.  This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting Masa’s community of immigrant families and has a strong interest in social services.  A background in social work, commitment to social and family justice, experience with detailed record keeping, and a passion for working in partnership with immigrant communities is essential.


Responsibilities

Case Management

  • Conduct intake assessments with community members seeking services
  • Determine that nature of the situation and the support options available for each community member
  • Assist and advocate for community members by providing appropriate referrals to partner organizations and/or providing direct support by filling out forms and attending appointments, as needed
  • Clearly document services provided and conduct adequate follow-up


Staff supervision

  • Provide guidance and oversight to 1-2 PT Program Associates
  • Support training, scheduling, and coordination among the team 


Community Resources

  • Build and maintain partnerships with key organizations that offer culturally fluent services in demand within the Masa community
  • Stay abreast of social services available to Masa’s community members in New York City
  • Maintain a high-quality and accurate list of referrals for Masa’s community; conduct outreach to partner organizations as-needed to confirm services and availability
  • Follow-up with community members to assess their experiences with referrals


Record Keeping

  • Keep all records and information organized and up-to-date in SalesForce, including resolving error reports to ensure integrity of data
  • Review data and apprise Executive Director of changing or varying needs of community members to ensure organization can secure adequate resources to support the Masa community


General

  • Support special projects and Masa events, as needed
  • Develop flyers and other communications materials


Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • B.A in social work, human services, or related field required
  • 1+ years of experience working in case management
  • 1+ year of experience working with immigrant communities preferred
  • Highly organized and self-managing; able to work independently
  • Highly motivated, creative with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills to establish trust and rapport with community members
  • Excellent computer skills; comfortable working with Excel
  • Excellent judgment, and attention to discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with social service agencies in the Bronx a major plus


Physical demands

  • This position is in-person at Masa’s office, and may require local travel to other settings at times (e.g. schools, Masa community events, etc.)
  • Light to moderate carrying of program materials is required 
  • Work schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends


Compensation

$44,000-$46,000/year
