About the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator

The Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator will play a leadership role in planning and implementing Masa’s early childhood programming serving children ages 16 months to 3 years.  The primary component of this programming is the ParentChild+ home visiting model which works with parents and guardians of young children in their homes to promote each child’s growth and development by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences focused on learning through play.  The Program Coordinator supervises 2-4 Early Learning Specialists, volunteers, and interns.  In addition, the Early Childhood Program Coordinator will oversee the PreK playgroup and all ECE programming initiatives at Masa.

This position is full-time, exempt, and ideal for a skilled manager with a background or interest in early childhood education, and experience working with parents and/or young children between the ages of 16 months and 3 years.  The Program Coordinator must be comfortable engaging with parents and guardians using a strengths-based approach, and possess the ability to relate to parents/guardians as peers and equal partners in helping prepare children for life success.  Experience with, and deep understanding of, the unique needs of immigrant youth and families is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

·       Program Implementation and oversight

o   Lead recruitment of families and establish strong community relationships, including the execution of community events

o   Effectively oversee the day-to-day implementation of the ParentChild+ program model and PreK playgroup, including regular team meetings to address opportunities and challenges

o   Ensure families receive individual case management support, referrals to additional services, and community education workshops, as needed

o   Oversee the program budget, track program expenses, and ensure program materials are purchased and available for use in a timely manner

o   Build and maintain a strong working relationship with partner community organizations

o   Attend and participate in staff meetings, events, and trainings, and represent Masa in external meetings as part of special initiatives and partnership agreements

 

·       Team mentorship and development

   o   Provide mentorship to program staff, volunteers, and interns; model desired behaviors and lead weekly planning and supervision meetings with staff

   o   Lead recruitment, programmatic onboarding processes for new hires, and ongoing professional development support for staff and volunteers

 

·       Administration and data management

o   Fulfill all record-keeping and data-management responsibilities in SalesForce, including daily review of notes from family visits in required databasses

o   Update program manuals, trainings, and maintain all files organized

o   Stay abreast of and ensure all programmatic and operational components of programs are compliant with NYC laws and meet contractual obligations

o   Contribute to grant reporting; lead, together with the Director of Programs, programmatic and financial reporting to donors and stakeholders

o   Prepare for and lead any program site visits from external agencies/funders with support from the Director of Programs


Qualifications

·       Bilingual English/Spanish

·       B.A. in education, social work or related field OR 3+ years of early childhood education experience; MA in Early Childhood Education highly preferred

·       Possess a strong knowledge base of early childhood education and child development

·       2+ years leading programs, including supervising/mentoring a team

·       3+ years of experience working with new immigrants, especially youth and/or children of immigrants

·       Comfortable working independently; self-driven

·       Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders, from parents to other CBOs

·       Clear understanding of client confidentiality; strong sense of responsibility

·       Excellent administrative, organizational and communication skills

·       Experience with Microsoft, Google, and database management; familiarity with Salesforce a plus

 

Physical demands

·     This position is in-person at Masa’s office, and may require significant local travel to families’ homes as well as other settings at times (e.g. schools, Masa community events, etc.)

·       Moderate to heavy carrying of program materials is required 

·       Work schedule will include occasional evenings and weekends


Compensation

$67,000-$75,000 annually
