About the Family Support Coordinator role:
The Family Support Coordinator reports to the Immigration and Family Support Supervisor and provides strategic and operational oversight of Masa’s family support services and the navigation services of our Pro Se Plus Project (PSPP) and the Welcome NY initiative.
The Family Support Coordinator will provide case management services through in-person or virtual one-on-one support, referrals, and rapid response services to Masa community members. The Family Support Coordinator will also provide direct family support services. In addition, the Family Support Coordinator is responsible for building the capacity of Masa staff to offer appropriate referrals and carry out case management, as well as supporting their ability to address families’ needs within their own programs. This role supervises 1 part-time Program Associate.
A key component of the job will be to maintain and develop partnerships with social service and other resource organizations, ensuring a high-quality and active referral list, identify needs and deliver trainings to staff, and establish and maintain systems and processes for keeping accurate case management notes and other records. The Family Support Coordinator may also lead workshops and information sessions with groups either in-person or in a virtual setting.
This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, motivated, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, is patient, and is a good listener. A background in social work, commitment to social and family justice, experience with detailed record keeping, and a passion for working in partnership with immigrant communities is essential.
This position is full-time through 8/14/26, with possibility of extension contingent upon funding. This role is in-person at Masa’s offices in the South Bronx.
Responsibilities:
Welcome New York Initiative and PSPP implementation/General Family support
Conduct intake assessments with immigrant community members seeking services
Determine the support options available for each community member
Assist and advocate for community members by providing appropriate referrals to partner organizations and/or providing direct support by filling out forms and attending appointments, providing translation/interpretation services, as needed
Clearly document services provided and conduct adequate follow-up
Build and maintain partnerships with key organizations that offer culturally fluent services in demand within the Masa community
Oversee emergency support activities, including the distribution of food, clothing, and other basic necessities
Staff Supervision
Provide adequate support and supervision to 1 part-time Program Associate
Conduct regular check-ins with team member
Ensure team member is clear on initiative goals and create a process for meeting project deliverables
Record Keeping:
Maintain a high-quality and accurate list of referrals for Masa’s community; conduct outreach to partner organizations as-needed to confirm services and availability
Keep all records and information organized and up-to-date in SalesForce, including resolving error reports to ensure integrity of data
Ensure all funder requirements are met in a timely manner
General
Support special projects and Masa events, as needed
Develop flyers and other communications materials
Requirements:
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
B.A in social work, human services, or related field required
1+ years of experience working in case management
1+ years of experience working with immigrant communities preferred
Supervisory experience highly desired
Highly organized and self-managing; able to work independently
Highly motivated, creative with excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent communication and engagement skills to establish trust and rapport with community members
Excellent computer skills; comfortable working with Excel
Excellent judgment, and attention to discretion and confidentiality
Familiarity with social service agencies in the Bronx a major plus
Physical demands:
This position is in-person at Masa’s office, and may require local travel to other settings at times (e.g. schools, Masa community events, etc.)
Light to moderate carrying of program materials is required
Work schedule includes occasional evenings and weekends.
